Don’t Show Your Home Before It’s Ready

Zionsville property management, Indianapolis property management

There are a lot of reasons why you shouldn’t start showing your home until it’s ready for new tenants. Showing a home before it’s ready is like trying to fit into size 2 pants when you’re normally a size 12. Just like you have to lose the weight first before those pants will look good on you, you have to clean and organize your rental home before showing it to potential tenants.

You can’t expect someone to rent your home if they cannot imagine themselves living there. Don’t show a home when it’s undergoing remodels or the prospective tenant will lose interest and you’ll lose money. Leading Zionsville property management company Real Property Management Indianapolis Edge gives you some tips for success.

  1. Make Sure the Home is “Rent-Ready”

At Real Property Management Indianapolis Edge, we have a convenient “Rent-Ready” checklist for you to look over and complete before listing the property. We give our clients the resources they need to make their lives easier, resulting in successful Indianapolis property management our clients can count on.

  2. Think About The Long-Term

Sure, saving money on a secondhand dishwasher may save you in upfront costs, but is it worth all the time and money you’re going to have to sink into it later? Consider the long-term when purchasing appliances or changing features of the rental property. Of course, you want to make cost-effective decisions, but just make sure you’re not going to regret them later.

  3. Get a Second Opinion

Yes, of course, you think your rental property is attractive and will lease fast. But what does everyone else think? It’s a good idea to have a friend or family member walk through the property to tell you some ways to improve it or make it more marketable to tenants. Once you’ve listened to a few opinions and made the changes, have a Zionsville property management professional look at it. They can tell you what else to do to get your property prepped and ready for tenants.

  4. Don’t Show the Property While Your Tenant is Living There

Showings of a home can be sporadic, and you don’t want your current tenant to have to leave the home at irregular times and intervals. You should be the one in control of the sights, sounds, and smells that prospective tenants encounter; not your tenant.

When it comes to showing your property, take advice from the experts in Indianapolis property management. At Real Property Management Indianapolis Edge, we have over 25 years of experience in the rental property business, and we can help you get your home prepped and ready for new tenants. Showing a home when there are tenants inside is actually not possible in the UK. Unless you have permission from tenants. Which you never do!
