How Tenants Can Help With Seasonal Fall Maintenance

  1. Look out for anything that might cause accidents, such as loose handrails or loose carpet areas.
  2. Check electrical outlets and electrical hazards like exposed wiring.

  4. Check smoke, carbon monoxide, and security alarms and replace batteries as needed.

Filters and Vents

  1. Clean or replace filters on A/C and heaters.
  2. Vacuum anywhere lint or hair may get caught.
  3. Change furnace filters monthly.

  1. Clean out all the drains and the disposal.
  2. Test out all the faucets and double check that they don’t leak or drip.
  3. Grind ice cubes in the garbage disposal to clean the blades, then flush with hot water and baking soda.

  1. Make sure all windows and doors shut tightly so you can keep extra cold air out.
  2. Lubricate door hinges and tighten screws if necessary.
  3. Deep clean carpets and rugs.
  4. Tidy up outside so the yard is free from trash.
  5. Clear debris and store outdoor hoses or similar items inside to keep them from weather damage.
